Paramedics, police, and firefighters called to crash involving truck

Paramedics say they were called to the scene at 1.40am to reports a lorry had hit Aston bridge – which runs over the River Dove. Firefighters were called in to help get the trucker from the vehicle.

A spokeswoman told StaffordshireLive: ““We were called at 1.38am to a road traffic collision involving a lorry on Aston Bridge, Lichfield Road in Ashbourne. Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) attended the scene alongside resources from East Midlands Ambulance Service.

“Upon arrival, we found a man who was the driver of the lorry who was extricated from the vehicle with assistance from the fire service. Once extricated, he was assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained injuries not believed to be serious. He received self care advice from ambulance staff before being discharged at the scene.”
