Live updates as crash shuts crossroads near Beacon Hill …

A crash near Beacon Hill Country Park has closed a busy crossroads. The collision, at about 11.45am today, involved a lorry and a car and happened at the junction of Charley Road and Nanpantan Road.

The car came off the road and went into a hedge, according to Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service. The driver had to be helped out of the vehicle by firefighters and was taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

Leicestershire Police[1] are warning motorists to find alternate routes. The force said in a tweet just after 12.30pm today: "ROAD CLOSURE 1234hrs 07/11/23 Crossroads at B591 Nanpantan is closed in all directions Nantantan Rd - Shepshed Rd - Charley Road Due to an RTC. Please find alternative routes."

The collision was the third serious collision this morning, following an incident in Melton that left two schoolgirls injured[2] and a crash on the A511 near Markfield[3] in which a car ended up in a ditch.
