M3 recap after traffic held due to multi-vehicle crash in Surrey

Emergency services responded to a multi-vehicle crash on the M3 London-bound this afternoon (November 19). All traffic was held as a result of the collision between Junction 4 for Frimley[1] and Junction 3 for Lightwater[2].

The motorway was later released but the exit slip road at Junction 3 remained shut for a couple of hours. At the time, National Highways warned drivers of delays and said: “Traffic is currently being held on the M3 eastbound between J4 (Frimley) and J3 (Lightwater) due to a collision involving multiple vehicles. Several emergency services vehicles are attending.”

Travel service Inrix added, shortly before 2pm: “All traffic being temporarily held and queueing traffic due to recovery work and multi-vehicle accident on M3 Londonbound at J3 A322 (Lightwater/Bagshot).”

Police cars and ambulances were seen at the location with the slip road shut to drivers. The road reopened just after 4pm once the vehicles involved had been recovered from the roadside.
