Live M25 traffic updates today as lorry recovery after crash in Essex …
The M25 remains closed in Essex today (Saturday, November 11) following a lorry crash. The vehicle left the carriageway at around 6.30am on Friday morning on the clockwise carriageway between Junction 27 and Junction 28 (Brentwood).
The motorway has been closed overnight and a traffic diversion is in place. The lorry has now been recovered but mud and debris are still being cleared from the road surface.
A National Highways spokesperson said: "The M25 clockwise has been closed to allow the recovery of a heavy goods vehicle that left the carriageway yesterday morning at around 06:30 to take place.
"Following conversations between Essex Police and National Highways Eastern Regional Operations Centre it was decided that due to the location and cargo of the vehicle and the length of time a closure would be needed to allow recovery operations to take place safely, it was not in the best interest of the public to fully close the M25 during the day."
Inrix, the traffic data company, said: "M25 clockwise closed due to emergency repairs, earlier accident, a lorry that went down the embankment involved and debris on road between J27 M11 and J28 A12 (Brentwood / Brook Street Roundabout). Congestion to around the M11 J7 (Harlow) along the diversion route.
"A lorry has been recovered after it went off the carriageway yesterday morning. Diversion - follow the Hollow Triangle via the M11 into London to Redbridge, then along the A12 out of town towards J28 to rejoin."
