LIVE Long queues as three lanes closed on M62 with motorists warned of 80 minute delays – updates

There are long delays of around 80 minutes on parts of the M62 following a crash earlier today.

Three out of four lanes are currently closed on the westbound section of the motorway. The closure covers a section between junctions 11 and 12.

The crash has caused queues of around eight miles long. Drivers have been warned that the road might not fully reopen until 6.30pm.

In a tweet, a spokesperson for National Highways said: "3 lanes of 4 remain closed on the M62 westbound between J12 M602 and J11 Birchwood.

"Risley following an earlier collision. Emergency services remain on scene. There is a spillage in lanes 2 and 3 that requires treatment. There are 80 min delays above normal travel time."
