Investigation set to take place after fire sees six engines at scene

A fire investigation took place on Tuesday (November 14) after a fire broke out at a maisonette in Bexhill[1] on Monday night (November 13). The fire, which was reported at 9.51pm, was in a first floor maisonette in St Marks Close.

The incident, which saw six fire crews called to the scene, caused damage to the first floor and the roof space. Firefighters were mobilised to the scene from Bexhill, Hastings[2] The Ridge and Bohemia Road, Eastbourne, Pevensey and Burwash.

As well as the fire engines, an Aerial Ladder Platform and the Incident Control Unit were also called to the scene. The fire was reported as being out late in the evening.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service[4] said that as of 1.50am on Tuesday morning, there were no signs of remaining fire hotspots. A fire investigation is expected to be underway throughout the day.

Sussex Police[5] was at the scene on Tuesday morning and people were urged to continue avoiding the area.
