Glasgow Central to Lanark rail chaos as broken down train halts …

Rail services between Glasgow Central[1] and Lanark have been halted due to a broken down train

ScotRail[2] says it is unable to run services along the route after the 7.16am service developed a fault between Carstairs and Carluke. Trains running between Glasgow Central[3] and Lanark are expected to be cancelled or delayed.

Crews are assisting the train to Motherwell with disruption expected until 10am.

Ticket acceptance is now in place with JMB on the number 41: Motherwell – Shieldmuir – Wishaw – Carluke – Lanark.

A spokesperson for Scotrail said: “The train running our 0716 Carstairs to Glasgow service has broken down between Carstairs and Carluke. Crew on board have been unable to overcome the fault therefore an assisting train is on the way from Motherwell to move the broken down train to Motherwell.”

A Network Rail Spokesperson said: “A broken down train at Lanark means some lines are blocked. As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised. This is expected until 10:00.”
