Results of the First Rail Interiors Awards Announced at RedCabin Rail Summit in Vienna

  • Awards programme created by a partnership between the Rail Interiors Show and RedCabin
  • Six category winners unveiled at RedCabin’s Rail Interiors Innovation Summit in Vienna on 8th November

Leading transport summit pioneer, RedCabin[1], in partnership with the Rail Interiors Show from Mark Allen Group, recently announced the results of the first Rail Interiors Awards as part of the Red Cabin rail summit in Vienna.

Six Categories of Award

In total, around one hundred nominations were received and assessed by an eminent jury of judges as part of the Rail Interiors Awards 2023.

Nominations were received in the following categories:

  • Design Innovation of the Year
  • Project Collaboration of the Year
  • Technological Innovation of the Year
  • Concept of the Year
  • New Cabin of the Year
  • Rail Cabin of the Year

Rail Interiors Awards 2023 Winners

  • Technical Innovation of the Year was awarded to netwiss OG Austria for TrainOptimizer, a software programme to optimise the interior of trains, providing the best combination of seating and baggage space.
  • Design Innovation of the Year was won by the Nordstern Seating System – a collaboration between Lantal Textiles, Grammer AG, N+P Innovation Design GmbH and SEKISUI KYDEX. This collaboration was formed by the winners at a previous RedCabin Rail Summit held in April 2023 in the USA.
  • The Project Collaboration of the Year award was scooped by ÖBB in partnership with PriestmanGoode and Siemens Mobility for The NightJet, an overnight sleeper service designed to optimise high quality and high speed rail travel across Europe.
  • The award for Concept of the Year was won by Teague USA for Roam America, a concept created to reimagine the great American road trip as a comfortable and engaging rail journey that seeks to create a new standard for US rail travel.
  • The judges awarded the New Cabin of the Year to The Train of Ideas Südostbayernbahn from Neomind AG. This reimagined commuter travel with new levels of passenger comfort, convenience and individuality.
  • Finally the Rail Cabin of the Year award was won by PriestmanGoode, for VIA Rail Canada. This project set a new standard in passenger experience in Canada, providing a fully accessible and barrier-free journey to passengers.

Awards That Celebrate Collaboration Driving Innovation

The Rail Interiors Awards celebrate excellence and innovation across the spectrum of rail interiors. Awards were judged against strict criteria by a panel of respected experts in the rail interiors industry from across the world.
