‘Feelings of guilt’ we didn’t see the Eryri crash car of tragic teenagers
A community has “feelings of guilt” that drivers on an Eryri road didn’t spot the crashed car of four teenagers. The bodies of Jevon Hirst, Harvey Owen, Wilf Fitchett and Hugo Morris were recovered from a silver Ford Fiesta in Gwynedd[1] on Tuesday.
The car had been spotted by a lorry driver after an appeal had gone out to find their vehicle. They had been missing since Sunday morning after a camping trip in Eryri.
The car left the A4085 at Garreg, near Tremadog, and was partially submerged in water. It is not known at this stage if finding the car earlier would have had any impact on the tragic outcome.
Cllr June Jones, who represents Glaslyn ward (Cyngor Gwynedd), told NorthWalesLive she only found out about the incident on social media on Monday.
Cllr Jones added that there is a feeling of guilt among motorists who drove past the scene of the crash without noticing the car which was upside down.

She said: “I believe it was a lorry driver who reported seeing the car. He was higher than an ordinary driver.
“So many people have contacted me saying ‘I drove past so many times and didn’t notice the car. If I had been there earlier I might have been able to help’. That’s the outpouring – they are feelings of guilt.”
She also thanked the emergency services for their work to find and deal with the incident, adding: “I want to thank the person who reported the car there and also the emergency services. They did a tremendous job to deal with the situation.”
