Feedback sought for A90(N) / A952 Fraserburgh and Peterhead …
Members of the public are being asked to share their views to support two studies[2] which seek to improve transport accessibility and connectivity to and from Fraserburgh and Peterhead.
Led by Nestrans, the A90(N) / A952 Ellon to Peterhead and Fraserburgh Appraisal is now inviting feedback from local communities and businesses, as well as those who travel in the area.
The current work focuses on transport problems and opportunities between Ellon, Peterhead and Fraserburgh and the impact of these problems on residents and businesses before developing potential options for improvement.
The study is being undertaken as part of the Strategic Transport Appraisal funded by the Aberdeen City Region Deal and will focus primarily on short-to-medium term interventions.
The feedback gained[3] will support the current ‘Case for Change’, following an evidence review which took place earlier this year.
The Nestrans work shares a similar study area with the ongoing Buchan Sustainable Transport Study.
This study is being delivered by Campaign for North East Rail (CNER), in partnership with Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC). The study was awarded grant funding from the Scottish Government’s Just Transition Fund to undertake an appraisal of the strategic transport corridor between Dyce, Ellon, Peterhead and Fraserburgh. This study will focus primarily on longer term interventions.
Although separate pieces of work, the stakeholder engagement and public consultation activities will be undertaken jointly due to the closely linked study areas. It is hoped that by doing so and sharing findings, it will be possible to build a comprehensive and conclusive picture of transport to the north of Aberdeen. Both studies will examine all modes of transport including walking, wheeling, cycling, public transport (bus and rail), private vehicles, and freight.
The engagement will see residents, businesses and key stakeholders across the area asked for their feedback.
The consultation will run until Thursday, December 21.

Councillor Alan Turner, chair of Nestrans said, “Addressing road safety, journey times, and reliability north of Aberdeen is a prominent issue for communities, businesses, and those travelling in the area, and I know people will be keen to share their views.

The Aberdeen City Region Deal is a partnership between Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeenshire Council, Opportunity North East, Scottish Government and UK Government. The Deal is one delivery mechanism for the regional economic strategy and is investing in sector innovation projects and infrastructure to support economic diversification and resilience. Signed in November 2016, both Governments committed to jointly investing up to £250 million over a 10-year period. These commitments form part of an overarching £826 million funding package for the Aberdeen City Region Deal.
