Face of prolific shoplifter who stole goods worth thousands in crime …

A prolific shoplifter has been jailed after committing a string of thefts in Smethwick[1]. West Midlands Police[2] says Ryan Dimmock, of no fixed abode, targeted stores in Smethwick, stealing thousands of pounds of items in October and November.

The force adds that Dimmock entered a store on Bearwood Road and committed another theft last Saturday. He was then identified by members of staff as being a prolific shoplifter in the area.

He was stopped by officers the following day, November 12 and arrested and later charged with 21 counts of thefts. The 27-year-old appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court[3] on November 13 where he pleaded guilty to all thefts and was sentenced to 48 weeks imprisonment.

Sgt Warren Hickinbottom, from Smethwick Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Dimmock admitted to all theft offences and it was clear he wasn’t stealing for his own consumption. I’m pleased he has been put behind bars so he can no longer blight businesses on Bearwood Road.

“We are doing everything possible to tackle offenders and support retailers in reducing shoplifting.”
