Extra trains put on for visitors to Somerset Carnival this weekend

Extra trains are to be put on for people travelling to Weston-super-Mare Carnival this weekend. Great Western Railway will run an additional four train[1] services on November 10 to cope with the tens of thousands of people coming to the seaside resort to watch the illuminated parade.

The parade of illuminated carts and walkers will start at 7pm as usual from the Locking Road[2] car park and turn right into Alfred Street. It will travel all the way down Alfred Street and left onto The Boulevard before heading into Waterloo Street and past the Italian Gardens.

The procession will then go onto South Parade and follow the road round to Knightstone Road to turn left along Royal Parade on the seafront[3], continuing along Marine Parade where the procession will end just past the Pirate Golf. A Weston Carnival spokesman said: “We have four additional train services planned for this weekend’s carnival at Weston-super-Mare.

“These additional services will allow passengers to see all the carts before travelling home safely.” There will also be a queue system in place at Weston Railway[6] Station to manage the large number of passengers heading to town and allow people to enter and exit the station safely.

Here are the train[7] times to and from Weston on Friday evening. (November 10).
