Eryri road where four boys died in crash to stay closed
Police say the Eryri (Snowdonia) road where four teenagers crashed will stay closed as a ‘detailed search’ continues. The bodies of Jevon Hirst, Harvey Owen, Wilf Fitchett and Hugo Morris were found in their crashed car in Gwynedd[1] on Tuesday.
The car had been spotted by a lorry driver after an appeal had gone out to find their vehicle. They had been missing since Sunday morning after a camping trip in Eryri.
The car left the A4085 at Garreg, near Tremadog, and was partially submerged in water. That road has been closed since Tuesday.
North Wales Police[4] now say it will remain shut until further notice. They said this was to carry out a detailed search as part of the investigation into the deaths of the teenagers.
Superintendent Owain Llewellyn said: “As part of our investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the four young teenagers in the Garreg area, we are continuing to carry out a detailed search of the area where the car was found. As a result the A4058 will remain closed until we are satisfied all related property has been recovered.
“Our thoughts remain with the families at this extremely difficult time and I would like to thank the public for their continued patience and understanding.”
