Edinburgh police swoop on sleepy street after ‘shooting’ at a property

Police in Edinburgh have swooped on a quiet estate following reports of a 'shooting at a house'.

Greendykes Road, at the Craigmillar Castle Avenue side, is currently closed after police[1] received a report of a disturbance[2] at around 10.15am on Thursday, November 2.

Two police vans have been spotted as a cordon has been erected around a row of houses[3] on the quiet street. Several officers have also been seen standing next to the taped-off area. Armed officers are also believed to have been scrambled.

A source informed Edinburgh Live that there was an incident involving a firearm at an address on the road as the scene remains locked down five hours later. They added: "There were reports of a shooting at a property and officers were called."

One eye witness, who was out walking when they came across the incident, said: "I live in the area and was just off on a walk when I saw a road closed sign and a police van with tape across the street.
