Edinburgh Lothian Buses diverted from busy area after ‘window …

Buses have been diverted from an Edinburgh neighbourhood once again due to antisocial behaviour.[1]

Lothian Buses[2] have informed passenger services including the number 2, 30 and 12 have been diverted from Craigmillar crossroads, near Niddrie Mains Road, due to antisocial behaviour.

The public transport operator took to X, formerly Twitter, with a service alert as youths have reportedly been spotted throwing ‘rocks’ at buses as they pass the busy road with one window allegedly being smashed.

Lothian Buses said: “Due to a anti social behaviour buses are unable to serve Craigmillar Crossroads and Peffermill Road and are instead diverted via Old Dalkeith Road, Little France Drive and Greendykes Road in both directions until further notice.”

The news comes just weeks after buses were diverted from Niddrie Mains and Peffermill Road due to a similar incident with damage being reported to vehicles.

Buses were also unable to serve the whole Niddrie community on Sunday night as police came under attack from yobs armed with fireworks and petrol bombs in what was a stark evening for the capital.

Lothian Buses previously told Edinburgh Live: “Lothian is committed to providing a safe and reliable service for all of our customers.

“Lothian has a zero tolerance approach to antisocial behaviour and will not hesitate to remove services from particular areas for a period of time if necessary to keep our colleagues and customers safe.”
