Driver escapes injury after lorry leaves road on main route near …

Police closed a main route near Coalville[1] this morning after a lorry left the road. Drivers were urged to avoid the area for several hours.

The incident happened at around 5.20am on Friday (November 17) when a lorry left the road[2] at the A512 in Coleorton, near Coalville. The incident happened close to the Peggs Green Island roundabout on the A512.

Officers from Leicestershire Police were called to the scene and put in a road closure on all exits from the roundabout. Drivers were urged to avoid Loughborough Road, St George's Hill, Nottingham Road and Moor Lane.

The closure was later extended by police to also cover nearby Lower Moor Road while they attended the scene. In a statement, a spokesman for Leicestershire Police[4] said a lorry had left the road at the A512.

The spokeswoman confirmed that no injuries had been reported in the incident. The A512 and all nearby roads were later reopened at around 7.40am.

Officers also issued information about an incident that took place in Harby, near Melton[5], on Thursday afternoon (November 16). Police had urged people to avoid the junction of Waltham Lane and Hose Lane for a number of hours.

A force spokeswoman said this incident was a collision involving three vehicles. First reports came in at around 4.38pm, with the road later reopened just after 7pm. No injuries were reported.
