A huge cannabis farm has been uncovered on a residential street in Coventry[1]. It was found in Longford[2] on Wednesday (November 1).

Officers were called to the street after being alerted to an illegal power bypass by British Gas[3]. Cables could be seen hanging from the ceiling of the property on Longford Road[4].

Cops discovered approximately 50 cannabis plants at the address which have now been seized. It is believed the haul was worth tens of thousands of pounds, said West Midlands Police[5].

A spokesman for West Midlands Police[7] said: “We were called to Longford Road[8] in Coventry[9] on Wednesday, November 1 to support British Gas[10], who were inspecting an illegal power bypass. Officers attended and a cannabis grow was found containing approximately 50 plants.

“We are now working to make the property safe and dispose of the plants. Anyone with any information can contact us via 101 or Live Chat[11] quoting log 1689 of November 1.

“Cannabis plants are a risk to our communities. Not only do they fund drug dealing and exploitation, but they also pose a significant fire risk as the electricity is often bypassed to allow for the massive amounts of power required to farm the plants.”
