Collision on Derby road involved police car responding to …
A collision involving a police car and another vehicle resulted in part of Derby’s inner ring road being closed for around two hours on Saturday afternoon (November 4). A Derbyshire police spokesman has confirmed that the police car was responding to an emergency call when the incident took place on the A5111 Osmaston Park Road.[1][2]
A police statement went on to say: “The collision involved a police Peugeot 307 and an Audi A3 and occurred in Osmaston Park Road at around 2.50pm.
“There are not thought to be any serious or life-changing injuries. The families of those involved are aware.
“The road was closed while the incident was dealt with and was reopened by 4.45pm.”
The A5111 Osmaston Park Road was closed between Spider Island at Allenton[3] and Nightingale Road and police asked people to find alternative routes around the area. Limited information was issued on Saturday but several people took to social media expressing concern about the police officer involved in the incident.
Although the road reopened shortly before 5pm, it was some time before traffic returned to normal, according to traffic information company Inrix – which said that, at about 7pm, the route was clear and delays were easing.
