Cambs hit-and-run nearly left ’10-month-old son without a dad’

The wife of a motorcyclist left temporarily unable to walk due to a hit and run incident has said the driver of the car that crashed into him ‘nearly left my ten-month old son without a dad’. The incident on Clayhithe Road[1] left 32-year-old Antony Fox-Bramwell unconscious in the early hours of Thursday morning (November 23).

Antony’s wife, 30-year-old Sarah Fox-Bramwell, explained that he is suffering from a broken pelvis and problems with his lower abdomen. He has already had one operation for his arm, which was broken in two places, and is waiting for a second operation. His condition is stable.

Sarah said her husband was riding to work when his motorbike was hit by a white car. She added: “He was left unconscious. When he woke up, he called for help. This driver nearly left my son without a dad. They left him unconscious at the side of the road.”

The police, the East of England Ambulance Service and the East Anglia Air Ambulance were all called to the incident, and Anthony was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Cambridgeshire[4] Police confirmed that the driver of the car did not remain at the scene, and said an investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Sarah is appealing for anyone with information to contact the police, and would like the driver of the car to come forward. She also thanked those who helped Antony at the scene and stayed with him until the emergency services arrived, and those looking after him at Addenbrookes Hospital[5].

Sarah added: “People should be more careful. There have been a lot of joyriders in that area. It’s not worth it. Think about who you could come into contact with.”
