Bus driver among casualties as D&G single-decker wipes out shelter

Paramedics have treated a D&G driver after his bus was involved in a two-vehicle collision before ploughing through a shelter. A mangled wreckage is all that remains of the bus shelter on Biddulph Road, in Fegg Hayes[1].

It follows the collision between the D&G bus and a car at the junction of Biddulph Road and Hollington Drive today. The alarm was raised at 10.48am.

StokeonTrentLive is today still waiting for statements from Staffordshire Police[2] and D&G Bus following this morning's collision. But West Midlands Ambulance Service[3] has revealed paramedics arrived at the crash scene within six minutes of the 999 call.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a bus and a car at the junction of Hollington Drive and Biddulph Road at 10.48am. An ambulance and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene with the first resource arriving within six minutes.

"The driver of the car and the driver of the bus, both men, were assessed by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment and so were given self-care advice and discharged at the scene. There were no other patients."

Any witnesses to the collision should call the police on 101.
