Bristol train services hit by flooded railway lines
Train services in and around Bristol[1] have been disrupted by flooding today (November 10). Pictures shared online show the extent of the flooding which forced regional lines to close.
The line at Dauntsey, near Chippenham, was underwater this morning. Services between Bristol Temple Meads and Swindon were affected as a result but the flooding has since cleared.
Meanwhile, the railway line at Chipping Sodbury, in South Gloucestershire[2], is also flooded. This is currently impacting trains heading between Bristol Parkway and Swindon.
At the time of writing (2pm), trains are still being delayed, cancelled or diverted. Network Rail Western said that disruption on the line is expected to last for much of the afternoon.
The rail service said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter[3]) at 1.26pm: “Flooding is impacting services between Swindon – Bristol Parkway, with the line closed.

“Earlier flooding at Dauntsey has receded, some journeys between Bristol Temple Meads – Swindon may be impacted by residual delays.”
Traffic and travel monitoring site Inrix says: “Delays of up to 45 minutes and some cancellations on Great Western Railway between Swindon and Bristol Parkway due to flooding.
“The direct line between Swindon and Bristol Parkway is closed. Trains between Swindon and Wales are likely to be cancelled entirely or divert with delays. Trains which do divert may not call at Bristol Parkway.”
