Biker in hospital with serious injuries after crash closed A38

A motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision which closed part of the A38[1] in Derbyshire. The incident happened just before 5.15pm on Thursday evening (November 9) on a stretch of the main road near Little Eaton Island.

Traffic queues built up around the area and at one point it was reported that there was three miles of queuing traffic[2] and delays of up to an hour. Motorists were advised to find alternative routes to avoid the closed road.

The road remained closed for about four hours and was open again by about 9.30pm. A Derbyshire police[3] statement said: "We were called just before 5.15pm to the A38 Abbey Hill stretch, near to the Little Eaton Island in Derby, following reports of a collision involving a motorbike.
