A46 crash live as major incident closes road in both directions

A section of the A46 in Warwickshire remains closed this morning (November 4). The road is shut in both directions on the 'Stratford Stretch' after an incident involving a pedestrian and a lorry shortly before 4am.

Emergency services remain at the scene. No information about injuries has been released. "Following a collision in the early hours of this morning, road closures are in place on the #A46[1] between the Oversley roundabout and Stratford Road," a Warwickshire Police spokesperson said.

"Please avoid the area where possible and take an alternative route as this section of road is likely to be closed for some time."

National Highways spokesperson said the collision between the A435 and A422 had involved a lorry and a pedestrian. It is the fourth major incident on that stretch of road in the last three weeks alone.

Fresh calls to improve road safety on the 'Stratford Stretch'[2] were made after a young man died in a collision there on Friday, October 13[3] in an unrelated incident. Two more serious incidents were recorded on that section of road in the days that followed.
