A19 crash Killingworth: Cyclist injured in collision with lorry
Emergency services were called to the A19 in Killingworth, on North Tyneside, at about 9.30am.
The cyclist, believed to have suffered a fractured femur, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.
The road remains closed as police carry out investigations.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 9.30am today (Friday) police received a report of a collision on the A19 southbound, near Killingworth, involving a lorry and a cyclist.
"Officers and emergency services are currently in attendance and the cyclist is believed to have sustained a fracture to his femur.
"The road has been closed at Moor Farm and one lane of the northbound carriageway has also been closed while emergency services remain at the scene.

"Motorists are asked to avoid the area at this time."

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 9.26am this morning (Friday 10 November) to reports of a road traffic incident on on the A19 southbound near Backworth in Newcastle.
"We dispatched an ambulance crew, two clinical team leaders, and requested the support of our colleagues at the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) who were later stood down. One patient was taken by road to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) for further treatment.”
