A12 delays in Romford after ‘traffic light failure’ sees crossover closed
There are delays on the A12 in Romford today (November 24) due to a traffic light failure. The juncton with the A125 North Street has seen the lights fail to work this afternoon.
The failure means that restrictions have had to be put in place which prevents drivers from using the crossover in the middle of the junction. No right turns are being permitted at the crossing at this time.
It is not yet known how long it will take for the traffic lights to be fixed. Highways have put diversion routes in place to ensure drivers get around the restrictions.
This is also affecting numerous bus routes in Romford, with buses 66, 103, 175, 247, 294, 296, 365 and 375 all being re-routed “for safety”, highways said.
There is heavy congestion on all approaches to the junction, including the A12 south and northbound while construction and repair work takes place to fix the lights. There is also delays on the A125 North Street leading up to the junction with the A12.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time if travelling in the area.
