Wonder of rail engineering explored in luxury Edinburgh trip
It's not often possible to board a train, be served a gourmet meal and be transported across one of the world's great engineering achievements all in one lunchtime.
But, for passengers boarding the Forth Bridge[1] Lunchtime Tour next month, that is precisely what they will do.
The Steam Dreams[2] Rail Company has planned a four-and-a-half hour trip which will depart Edinburgh Waverley[3] at 11.00 on Saturday 25 November, returning at 15.30. Passengers will travel in restored vintage carriages featuring wood panelling and period details, enhanced by a distinctive livery. The highest level of service will create an unforgettable experience harking back to a bygone era.

Whilst travelling over the Forth Bridge there will be views towards the road bridges as well as the open sea. On leaving Fife, the train will be routed along the coast towards Kirkcaldy, passing both the castle and the beach at Aberlour, as well as beaches at Burntisland[4] and Kinghorn.
The route then turns inland, passing through Dunfermline[5]. Heading along the Forth Estuary onto a rarely-used goods-only line, passengers will pass the village of Culross and the edges of Torry Bay Local Nature Reserve. Passing through Alloa[6] the train will proceed along the re-opened route to Stirling[7], looping around the western end of the estuary and crossing the Forth at Stirling before heading back to Edinburgh[8] through Falkirk.
Fine dining on the Forth Bridge Lunchtime Tour / / Credit Steam Dreams Rail CompanyAlready almost fully sold out, there is still some availability in Pullman Dining, at £295 per person. Passengers will be served a glass of champagne as well as a three-course menu created on-board and sourced from fresh, local, seasonal produce.
