Woman dies after car crashes with lorry on country road

A woman has died after the car she was driving crashed with a lorry on a country road. The incident took place on the A4137 in Glewstone, Ross on Wye, shortly after midday on Wednesday (October 18).

Emergency crews rushed to the scene, including an air ambulance and medics found the woman was in a critical condition. Passers-by had given her basic life support.

Then ambulance staff stepped in to give more intensive treatment. But nothing could be done to save her.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] spokesman said: “A woman has died following a collision between a car and a lorry this afternoon. We were called to the A4137 in Glewstone, Ross on Wye, at 12.44pm and sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham to the scene.

“On arrival crews discovered the driver of the car, a woman, in a critical condition. She was already receiving basic life support from bystanders before ambulance staff began administering advanced life support.

“However, despite everyone’s best efforts it sadly became apparent nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed dead at the scene. Two men from the lorry were assessed and discharged at the scene.”
