West Lothian firefighters forced to rescue man from car after street …
West Lothian[1] firefighters were forced to rescue a motorist from his car[2] after he became stuck in deep floodwater.
The region suffered heavy flooding as a result of heavy downpours over the weekend with ScotRail[3] services also affected as well as several main roads.
As the Courier[4] reports, two fire engines and a specialist team were deployed to Mill Road in Bathgate after reports of a man being trapped in his vehicle on Monday afternoon.
Images from the scene shows firefighters wading in to assist the man from his car to safety as the water was nearly covering the wheels of the vehicle. They managed to get the man from his car and he was checked over by ambulance staff following the frightening incident.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 1.18pm on Sunday, October 29 to reports of a car stuck in floodwater at Mill Road, Bathgate. Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and specialist resources to the area.
