Victims of motorbike theft taunted as joyriders speed past and wave
A biker couple who had their £2,000 motorcycle stolen are now being taunted by the thieves as they ride past their home. Husband and wife, Heather and David Wright, were dismayed when their Suzuki GSX 600 was pinched in Cheadle[1] in the early hours of Wednesday morning (September 27).
They claim the criminals now wave as they travel past their home on their bike – but say the police have not done very little to help. Heather, who works as a cleaner and lunchtime supervisor, realised the machine was missing when she woke up that morning.
The 56-year-old said: “I ran straight to wake my husband, he had been on a night shift. He’s already had two other bikes stolen before.”
Police visited the home to collect CCTV footage the following day. But since then, Heather understands no further inquiries have been made despite them offering further information. Meanwhile, she says the thieves continue to taunt the family from the streets around their home.

Heather added: “I phoned them on Friday to say my daughter had some more footage but they haven’t looked. They said they were too busy and had to deal with something else first. I’ve not heard from them since then.
“Whoever it is, they’re driving up and down our street. They were on the bike and they waved. They’ve been going up and down the streets since then. It feels like we’re being taunted all the time.”
Now, without any mode of transport, David has moved to a relative’s home so he can be closer to work. He now walks nine miles each day to his workplace and back.
Heather added: “It’s not fair, we’re paying our council tax for nothing. There’s no police, you don’t see any around here. There’s a police station but nobody is there. The people who stole it, they know this. They’re probably laughing about it.”
A Staffordshire Police[4] spokesman said: “We are appealing for information after a motorbike was stolen from a home in Cheadle recently. It happened on Attlee Road between 7.30pm on Tuesday and 6am the following morning (September 27).
“The bike, a blue and white Suzuki, was spotted being pushed down the road by two men following the theft. We have been carrying out enquiries to find out more about the incident since it was reported. We think it might still be being used in the Cheadle area and could have been sprayed a different colour.”
