Truck carrying boat managed to pass narrow street with ‘tight squeeze’
A truck carrying a boat managed to pass through a narrow street with a “tight squeeze” after almost getting stuck in Wells. The incident occurred on Thursday, October 19 when fishing boat ‘Fair Lass’ was being transported through Wells.
Photos revealed the 20ft boat jammed down the tight street as it slowly passed through the gap. The boat was able to make its way through the tiny space with no damage to either party, SWNS reports.
Thea Beatrice Charrot-Hickling, 41, saw the whole event unfold on the day and described the incident as a “very tight squeeze”. She said: “I was having my usual walk around the coastal path, venturing back along the quay and realised there was something happening that you don’t see every day.

“They were moving their boat from the boat yard along the road and at one point it was a very tight squeeze. Old roads combined with large traffic prove to be interesting at the best of times, never mind with a boat on board too. Luckily after a time, great team effort, patience and perseverance won and the boat went safely on her travels.”
The pictures were posted to social media. One commenter said: “We were there and I honestly didn’t think they’d manage it. Great teamwork.” Another added: “I saw it earlier, it looked impossible from a distance. Well done to all.”
