Tragedy as person dies on railway tracks with services halted
A person died following an incident at a railway station. Services were halted between Birmingham Moor Street and Solihull[1] this morning, October 26.
British Transport Police said it was alerted to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Olton station just after 8am. The force rushed to the scene alongside ambulance workers.
A person was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Olton station at 8.21am following reports of a casualty on the track. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The Inrix traffic management system issued an alert: “Services at a stand on Chiltern Railways between Birmingham Moor Street and Solihull and service suspended due to emergency services dealing with an incident.”
National Express West Midlands said it would be accepting rail tickets due to the incident. They said people could use services 4, 4A, 5, 6, 8A/C, 17, 49, 60, 72, X1, X2, X12 and CV11.
