A Toyota Hilux which featured in a polar challenge on BBC's Top Gear is set to pay a visit to Stoke-on-Trent. Jeremy Clarkson and James May used the specially adapted vehicle to race 450 miles across northern Canada to the magnetic North Pole in 2007, while co-presenter Richard Hammond made the journey in a sled pulled by a team of 10 Canadian Inuit dogs.

The 4x4 vehicle will be on display during an event at Pinkstones Toyota in Trentham Lakes on Saturday, October 28, as part of a family fun day where visitors will also be able to take part in giant size Scalextric and racing car simulator races. Prizes are going to be awarded following the races and complimentary pizzas and refreshments will also be available.

The family fun day will start from 10am at Pinkstones Toyota in Stanley Matthews Way and will run all day. Booking is not required.

Richard Harris, of Pinkstones Toyota, said: "As a celebration of this iconic vehicle we wanted to open our doors to the public and share it with as many people as possible.

"The Toyota Polar Hilux is in itself an incredible car as the Top Gear show demonstrated with their trip to the North Pole, a show which was watched by many. To be able to showcase the original vehicle here in Stoke is brilliant.

"It’s going to be a great family fun day as there will also be races taking place on our giant Scalextric tracks and racing simulator - we cannot wait."

Arctic Trucks - the firm behind the converted Toyota Polar Hilux which appeared on the show - will also be attending the day.

Carrim Bundhun from Arctic Trucks said: “We are thrilled to be coming to Stoke-on-Trent with our vehicle. We know just how popular this vehicle was then and how much interest it had when on the TV show all those years ago - and even now people still love to see it."
