Three arrested after police chase in Rainham
Three men were arrested in Rainham after a police chase that resulted in three officers sustaining injuries. The incident, which took place on just after 8.30pm on Friday (October 6), started when officers on patrol attempted to stop a car that was being driven with false licence plates.
Officers in a marked car then pursued the vehicle and stopped it by making tactical contact in Upper Rainham Road, near to the junction with Elm Park Avenue. Three officers sustained minor injuries.
The Metropolitan Police said: “At 20:36hrs on Friday, 6 October officers on patrol in Rainham attempted to stop a car that was being driven on false plates in Upminster Road.
“The car failed to stop and was pursued by officers in a marked car. During the pursuit, a number of items were thrown from the car.”
The occupants of the car, three men, were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and theft of a motor vehicle. They remain in custody at an east London police station.
Further enquiries confirmed the car had been stolen during a burglary in Upminster on Thursday, 5 October.
