Russell & Bromley to close its Tunbridge Wells shop as chain gives …

The upmarket shoe and handbag shop Russell & Bromley in Tunbridge Wells[1] is to close. The large store on Mount Pleasant has been there for many years, and is on the road which links the top of town with the bustling High Street.

It told KentLive[2] its shop would close on November 11. But it sounds as though this will not be the end of Russell & Bromley in Tunbridge Wells. A spokesperson said it was the company’s “ambition” to find “an improved location” in Tunbridge Wells. It said it was looking for a new site in the town.

The store on Mount Pleasant, which was near Tunbridge Wells railway station, has huge windows, so its window displays always have plenty to entice potential shoppers or even window shoppers. It was also close to the department store Hoopers, so was a stop-off for those heading there.

No details could be given of potential sites yet, but the company promised to give details as soon as it could. Plans have been submitted for flats for the Mount Pleasant site.
