Recap after five-vehicle crash leaves A14 blocked near Kimbolton …

A major Cambridgeshire dual carriageway was blocked following a ‘serious’ crash involving five vehicles on Monday (October 30). Queues formed due to the incident on the eastbound carriageway at Junction 16 (Kimbolton).

The crash was first reported shortly before 8am and the road reopened at 11.30am. Emergency services attended the scene.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said at 9am: “We were called at 7.36am this morning to reports of a five vehicle collision on the A14 Eastbound between Thrapston and Huntingdon. Officers are on the scene, it initially appears there are no major injuries. The road has been partially closed and we advise motorists to avoid the area.”

Inrix, the traffic[1] data company, said: “All lanes open, recovery work completed and accident cleared on A14 Eastbound between B663 Toll Bar Lane (Keyston / Bythorn) and J16 B660 Fox Road (Catworth / Kimbolton). Lane two (of two) was closed, affecting traffic heading towards Godmanchester.”

A National Highways spokesperson said: “All lanes have been reopened on the A14 eastbound between J15 Bythorn and J16 Catworth following an earlier collision. Delays are clearing well in the area. Have a safe onward journey.”
