Poundland urgently recalls Halloween decoration amid safety …

An urgent recall has been issued for a Halloween decoration - amid fears it could cause nasty cuts. The Office for Product Safety and Standards is urging people who bought a ‘Creepy Town[1]’ hanging ghost decoration from Poundland to return it due to exposed metal wires that could cause injury.

The hanging decoration[2] is made out of a white material with a ghost face and polystyrene ball as the head. The recall comes as people across the UK will be busy decorating their homes ready for Halloween celebrations next week.

A spokesman for the Office for Product Safety and Standards said: “The product presents a risk of cuts as it features sharp metal wires[3] that can become easily exposed. It does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

The decoration, made in China, has now been withdrawn from the market[6]. It has a product code of 814437 and the barcode 5045733253472.

The spokesman added: “Affected consumers are advised to return the product to a Poundland[7] store for a full refund. No proof of purchase is required.”
