Popular Edinburgh walkway completely submerged following flash …
A popular walkway has been submerged following hours of heavy showers[1].
Flash floods have been reported across Scotland as the country has been issued with flood warnings and yellow and amber weather warnings.
There is currently a yellow weather warning in place for Edinburgh and the Lothians until 6am on Sunday.
Across the day, the river’s levels have been rising and images show flood water flowing down the pathway next to the river at Dean Village.
In a video posted by Councillor Vicky Nicolson, the pathway is completely flooded and fast running, brown water can be seen moving up towards Coltbridge. She warned people to ‘take care’.
While the city has been battered by downpours, one resident on Old Dalkeith Road[4] recorded footage of the stretch of road opposite Inch Park completely flooded[5] due to heavy rainfall on Saturday and claimed that it had been caused by blocked drains.
Cars can be seen passing the standing water while crossing the white lines with the opposite side of the road barely visible. The footpath used by pedestrians has also been submerged in water.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the resident said: “Every time we get any sort of heavy rain, the road floods here on Old Dalkeith Road making it impassable for pedestrians and cyclists and dangerous for drivers. Blocked drains!”
