Pompey Women Host Billericay On Sunday – News – Portsmouth

Pompey Women are back at home this Sunday, as they welcome Billericay to Westleigh Park (2pm kick-off).

It’s a return to National League action for Jay Sadler’s side after they progressed into the second round of the League Cup against Moneyfields last weekend.

Emily Pitman bagged a hat-trick on her maiden start for the club in the 7-1 triumph, whie Dani Lane, Sophie Quik, Ella Humphrey and Tierney Scott were also on the scoresheet.

This weekend sees the Blues return to PO9 following their resounding victory over Oxford a fortnight ago.

Lane scored either side of Leeta Rutherford’s first goal since returning to the club that day, before Beth Lumsden rounded off a 4-0 success.

Visitors Billericay currently sit sixth in the early standings, having collected nine points from their opening games.

They have won two of their first six league fixtures against Plymouth and London Bees, also drawing with Chatham, Cardiff and MK Dons.

It was a dramatic 4-3 victory for Pompey when the two teams last met at New Lodge back in April.

Humphrey cancelled out Jess King’s opener before Annie Rolf’s brace gave the Blues a commanding lead.

But a Lucy Jones penalty and King free-kick either side of the break ensured the hosts levelled the National League contest.

And it looked as though the spoils would be shared until Jazz Younger popped up in the dying seconds to secure all three points.

Billericay have former blue Leanne Bell in their ranks, with the midfielder completing a move in the summer.
