Police warning as Skoda Octavia, safe and TV taken in night raids
Police have issued a warning to residents after a series of burglaries in Bishop's Cleeve and Southam. Four burglaries were reported overnight between Tuesday, October 3 to Wednesday, October 4, with victims saying unknown offenders[1] had broken into their homes.
Sets of spare car keys were among the items stolen, with one incident actually involving a stolen vehicle. A safe and television were also taken from one property in Bishop's Cleeve[2].
The spate of thefts has prompted a warning from Gloucestershire Police[3], reminding people of the additional safety measure which can be taken to help keep homes as safe as possible during the dark winter months. One incident, in Pagets Road in Bishop's Cleeve, involved offenders gaining entry to their property on 11pm on Tuesday before stealing a safe and television
A burglary on Harpfield Road occurred overnight. Offenders broke in before stealing a grey Skoda Octavia with the registration BP68 NUA as well as keys to another car. Gloucestershire Police say the car has not been found and anyone who has seen it is asked to call 101 quoting incident 51 of 4 October.
Another third burglary took place on Read Way and saw offenders entered the property between 11pm on Tuesday and 8am on Wednesday. Nothing was stolen, however a bag from inside the house was found dumped on the driveway.
In a fourth incident, offenders searched a property in Southam before stealing a wallet, the spare keys to a car and cigarettes. This is believed to have happened between 10pm on Tuesday and 5.15am on Wednesday.
Police are appealing for information from anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the Bishops Cleeve and Southam areas. Anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage which may help the investigation. In particular, officers are appealing for footage from around 10pm on Tuesday which shows four males acting suspiciously. They are believed to have been travelling in a small light coloured car.

Homeowners are advised to install a WIDE range of security devices to help protect your home, shed or garage from burglary as well as ensuring that back gates are secure.
A 'WIDE' combination includes:
- Window locks
- Indoor lights on timer switches
- Double door locks or deadbolts
- External lights on a sensor.
