Police tape off quiet road as man with firearm ‘made threats to kill’

A man has been arrested after a firearm was discovered at a Collier Row home yesterday morning (October 4). London Metropolitan Police were called to Eaton Drive to carry out a search at the home.

During the search, a firearm was discovered and seized at the scene. A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent and threats to kill.

Police confirmed that the suspect is in custody. Other suspicious items were found during the search, which were thought to be used in the production of Class A drugs.

He was confirmed to be further arrested in connection with this. A crime scene was reported to be set up at the residential road while police investigated the incident.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: "On Wednesday, 4 October officers from the Met’s East Area Command arrested a 42-year-old male on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent and threats to kill. He remains in custody.

"A search of a residential address at Eaton Drive, Romford was conducted and a firearm was seized. Also found at the address were items thought to be used in the production of Class A drugs - the male was further arrested in connection with this. Enquiries are ongoing."
