Police, NHS and B&M recruiters to attend big jobs fair next week

A Derbyshire town[1] will play host to a jobs fair later this month, advertising a wide range of roles available in the region[2]. The event will take place at Green Bank Leisure Centre, in Swadlincote town centre, on Thursday, October 26, between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

The Swadlincote[3] jobs fair is being organised by the Department for Work and Pensions[4] in partnership with Burton & South Derbyshire District Council.[5] The event is due to offer training opportunities, access to support agencies and job vacancies from various well-known employers.

The employers that will be looking for staff at the jobs fair include B&M, Chilled Pubs, Clipper, Derbyshire Constabulary, ENA Homecare, Home Office, Keystone Group, Leonard Cheshire, Logistic Security, Midland Lead, NHS, Pickstock Foods, South Derbyshire District Council and Spotless Midlands, as well as The Pallet Network – which is supporting the event and recruiting for its new base in Swadlincote.

Several hundred full and part-time vacancies are due to be showcased at the event, with roles including administration, sales, customer services, security, hospitality, catering, cleaning, driving, welding, production and warehouse operatives. For those who are considering becoming self-employed, South Derbyshire Business Advice Service will be providing advice, and can also help anyone starting out a business apply for any grants or loans that they are eligible for.

South Derbyshire District Council stated: "A previous jobs fair in Swadlincote attracted over 270 people looking for work, with excellent feedback from jobseekers and employers alike. 94 jobseekers completed a job application on the day, 93 jobseekers left the event with an interview offer - and nine received job offers before leaving."

If you would like to participate in this event or any similar events in the future, people are invited to contact Justyna Zakrzewska at Swadlincote Jobcentre on 07799 464 520 or email [email protected]
