Police called to picket line after striking worker ‘shined laser’ at driver
Police have been called to a picket line – after a striking worker was accused of ‘shining a laser’ at a passing motorist. They have issued a man with a community resolution order following the complaint.
One non-striking worker has told StokeonTrentLive: “This nearly caused an accident. It is becoming a joke. Businesses, including where I work, are having disruption because of chanting, singing and anti-social behaviour on the picket line.”
The unrest comes as Klarius workers remain on strike in a contract row over new sickness rules at the Cheadle[1] factory. The alarm was raised at 7.15am on Friday.
A Staffordshire Police[2] spokesman said: “We were called to a premises on New Haden Road just after 7.15am on Friday following reports that a man was seen shining a laser at the driver of a vehicle in the area. Officers carried out enquiries and spoke to people who were in the area at the time. A man in his 50s, from Cheadle, was later issued with a community resolution.”
Any witnesses should call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
