Police investigating death of woman found in Derbyshire house

A police investigation has been launched after the body of a woman was found at a property in Chesterfield.

Derbyshire police[1] said investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Derbyshire Live understands that the woman’s death could be linked to extensive flooding in the Chesterfield area which has taken place in the last few days from Storm Babet – but that further police investigation and a post mortem have still to take place to establish the cause of death.

A spokesman for the force said: “Derbyshire Constabulary were called just after 10.35am on Saturday, October 21, to the sudden death of a woman in Tapton Terrace, Chesterfield.[2]

“Officers, along with colleagues from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and from East Midlands Ambulance Service, arrived at the property and found a woman, aged in her 80s, inside the flat.

“Investigations are continuing into the cause and circumstances surrounding her death.”

Dozens of people had to be evacuated from their homes in Chesterfield on Friday and Saturday and about 30 people were cared for at Queen’s Park Sports Centre.
