Police appeal as Staffordshire man, 31, dies in crash

Police[1] are appealing for witnesses after a 31-year-old man died in a fatal smash. The biker was sadly pronounced dead at the scene in Cannock where officers were joined by three ambulances – including the air ambulance – and firefighters.

Now collision investigators with Staffordshire Police[2] are urging anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch. As reported by StokeonTrentLive[3] emergency services were called out to Eastern Way – near to Orbital Retail Park and Gateway Retail Park – at around 12.30pm on Sunday.

The route was shut off for a number of hours as police, paramedics and firefighters dealt with the incident. The force said the collision involved a silver Volkswagen Up and a Yamaha motorbike.

A spokesman said: “The rider of the motorbike, a 31-year-old man, from Tamworth, was treated by West Midlands Ambulance Service and air ambulance paramedics but, despite their best efforts, sadly died.

“Specially-trained officers are continuing to support his family. The driver of the car stayed at the scene and has been helping us with our enquiries.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision or those with CCTV and dashcam footage from the area are asked to get in touch with us.”

The collision took place close to Churchbridge roundabouts. West Midlands Ambulance Service[6] sent three ambulances, a paramedic officer, the Midlands Air Ambulance critical care car, and the Midlands Air Ambulance to the incident.

A spokesman said: “On arrival, crews found the motorcyclist, a man, in a critical condition. Ambulance crews immediately began administering specialist trauma care, but sadly, despite their best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased.

“The car driver was uninjured in the incident.”

Anyone with information should call Staffordshire Police on 101 and quote incident 366 of October 29. Alternatively e-mail the collision investigators directly on [email protected].
