Person taken to hospital after lorry collides into Herts pub

A person has been taken to hospital after flat bed lorry has collided into a pub in Colney Heath. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning (October 31) when Herts Police were called at 4am to a report of collision on the High Street in Colney Heath.

The incident led the emergency services to rush to the scene, including Herts Police, the East of England Ambulance Service, and Highway Maintenance. A road closure was put in place while the emergency services dealt with the incident.

It was confirmed that the lorry had collided into the Crooked Billet pub in the Hertfordshire village, and the collision has caused significant damage to the pub. Highway Maintenance is currently trying to help remove the lorry from the damaged building.

One person was taken to hospital following the incident. A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 4.04am with reports of a collision in High Street, Colney Heath. We sent an ambulance and an ambulance officer vehicle. One person was taken to Watford General Hospital for further care.”

Herts Police said: “Police were called at 4am today (Tuesday 31 October) to report a road traffic collision on High Street, Colney Heath. It was reported that a flat bed lorry had collided with a building.

“Officers attended, along with Herts Fire & Rescue Service and the East of England Ambulance Service. Minor injuries were reported. The road remains closed while the incident is dealt with and recovery is carried out.”
