Person dies following ‘medical episode’ at Basildon Train Station …
A person has died at an Essex train station after experiencing a “medical episode”, police have confirmed. British Transport Police officers were called to Basildon Train Station this morning (October 30).
A person was treated at the scene shortly after 5.17am, and for several hours c2c trains were unable to stop at the station due to police attending. The police have sadly confirmed the person passed away at the scene, but the death is not believed to be suspicious.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Basildon station at 5.17am today (30 October) to reports of a person experiencing a medical episode. Paramedics also attended, however sadly the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is not believed to be suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.” c2c advised customers on X (formerly Twitter) between 5.30am and 8am that train timetables could be revised and that Basildon Train Station would not be served during the police incident.
However, by 8.15am the incident had cleared and trains returned to normal. A spokesman said: “Disruption caused by the police dealing with an incident at Basildon has now ended. Services are no longer affected by this problem. If you have been delayed on your journey with us by more than 15 minutes you can claim compensation.”
