Parkrun cancelled after man’s body found in woodland
A 5km Parkrun was cancelled after a man’s body was found in woodland. West Midlands Police cordoned off the area in Dudley[1] earlier today, Saturday, October 28.
The running event – held at The Dell Stadium on Bryce Road, Pensnett, Brierley Hill, every Saturday morning – was called off by organisers at the last minute due to the police incident. West Midlands Police[2] said later that a body of a man was discovered in woodland in Brockmoor.
Officers had been probing the case of a missing person called Andrew, 52. Formal identification is yet to take place but Andrew’s family have been informed, police added.
“Officers searching for missing 52-year-old Andrew have sadly found the body of a man in woodland in Brockmoor,” said a police spokesperson. “Formal identification is yet to take place but Andrew’s family have been informed. We are not treating the death as suspicious and our sympathies are with his family and friends.”
Dudley Parkrun had posted on X, formerly Twitter, 20-minutes before the run: “We are having to cancel this week’s event on the 28th October. Apologies for the short notice but this is way beyond our control. If people have arrived the team at The Dell are happy for to use the track if they want to. “
