Police escaped life-threatening injury after their car crashed at a busy crossroads[1]. The incident involved a force patrol car and another vehicle late on Sunday night (October 1).
The incident happened just before 11pm at the Leicester Road crossroads in Wistow and involved one force patrol car belonging to Leicestershire Police and a car belonging to a member of the public. It is unclear how many officers were in the patrol car at the time of the collision.
The incident prompted the closure of the crossroads[2] in all directions covering Leicester Road, Kilby Road and Kibworth Road. They remained shut for more than three hours with drivers urged to avoid the area.
In a statement, a Leicestershire Police[4] spokesman confirmed that no “life-threatening” injuries were reported. It is unclear how severe any injuries to the police or members of the public were.
The spokesman said: “The collision at the crossroads involved a police car and a member of the public’s vehicle.
"It was reported just before 11pm. No life-threatening injuries were reported and no-one was arrested.”
