A man is seriously injured after being knocked down by a car in a hit and run.
Merseyside Police[1] were called to Naylors Road, near the junction of Linkfield Close in Belle Vale[2], at around 9.21pm on Tuesday, October 31, following reports of a crash. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a man in his 60s had been hit by a vehicle.
The vehicle didn't stop following the crash and left the man at the scene. The man was taken to hospital by ambulance with a serious head injury.
Chief Inspector Tom Welch said: “We are in the very early stages of an investigation and would appeal to anyone who has any information about this incident to come forward. This was a serious collision that has left a pedestrian in hospital with a serious head injury and we are currently trying to identify and locate the driver of the vehicle involved.
“If you live in the area or were driving past and either witnessed the collision or have CCTV or dashcam footage, please let us know.”
Police blocked off Naylors Road in both directions with cones as emergency services worked at the scene.
Following the crash Arriva posted an update on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter[5], to say their 89 service was diverting from Naylors Road due to the ongoing police incident.
The update read: "Service 89 is currently diverting via Roby Road, Bowring Park, Chelwood Avenue, Childwall Valley Road in both directions due to a police incident on Naylors Road."
