A man killed in a city road crash this morning was in a car which had 'failed to stop for police' minutes earlier. West Midlands Police[1] said a Seat Ibiza was involved in a collision with two other vehicles in Stirchley[2].
The crash on Pershore Road happened minutes after the vehicle failed to stop for officers on Belgrave Middleway, at around 12.35am, on Monday, October 16. Police said the car was not being pursued at the time of the collision.
A man in the Seat Ibiza was declared dead at the scene. Police said a stab vest and a quantity of drugs was also found in the Seat.
A woman in the same car was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be serious. A man who was in one of the other vehicles was taken to hospital as a precaution.

"Our Professional Standards Department has been informed and has contacted the Independent Office for Police Conduct, due to the vehicle failing to stop for officers. Anyone with information can call the Collision Investigation Unit police on 101 quoting log number 77 of 16 October."
An ambulance service spokeswoman told BirminghamLive: “On arrival, crews found two cars had been involved in a collision. A man from the first car was found outside the vehicle in a critical condition.
"Ambulance crews immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, he could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.
"A woman from the same car was treated by ambulance staff for injuries not believed to be serious and conveyed to University Hospital Birmingham for further treatment. The driver of the second car, a man, was also treated for injuries not believed to be serious and taken to the same hospital for further treatment.”
